PLATOCODE Computer Assisted Coding (CAC) System
PLATOCODE CAC uses your existing clinical documentation to derive applicable billing codes (ICD-9, ICD-10 and CPT) and seamlessly offers them to your coder during the normal coding process. This high-benefit, low-cost formula means less organizational and procedural change for your users, and it promotes efficiencies unmatched in the industry today.
Architectural Overview
The PLATOCODE CAC is designed to leverage your existing investment in coding systems and workflow, minimize the technology footprint, and comply with HIPAA and HITECH requirements. The system will run on your existing equipment in most cases. It will function in networked and Citrix environments as well as smaller, stand-alone configurations. And it all scales extremely well.
Triggering the process
To begin with, your clinical documentation is sent to PLATOCODE's FileCoder Module through an industry standard interface, such as HL7.
PLATOCODE FileCoder Application - located at your facility.
With the introduction of each new document, the FileCoder assembles the patient case data and submits it securely to the CAC Engine.
PLATOCODE CAC Engine - located offsite.
The CAC Engine models the case and derives applicable ICD-9, ICD-10 and CPT codes. This patented artificial intelligence technology requires no ramp-up period. It's completely effective, immediately.
PLATOCODE Results Database - located at your facility.
Within seconds, the CAC Engine returns the codes to your Results Database. In addition to the clinical documentation and codes, coder statistics are stored to enable productivity reporting and other useful clinical queries using PLATOCODE's Reporting Application (click here for details about the Reporting Application).
PLATOCODE Viewer Application - located at your facility.
When your coder views documents in your Encoder/Abstractor system, the Viewer Application automatically retrieves applicable codes from the Results Database for your coder. PLATOCODE automatically sends the chosen codes to your Encoder/Abstractor system. The Viewer vastly streamlines and improves the existing process.

Implementation
We have extensive experience implementing PLATOCODE into existing coding workflows, and we have integrated with major Encoder/Abstractor systems. PLATOCODE will have very little impact on your IT infrastructure and coding procedures, while providing immediate productivity and accuracy gains.
Installing the PLATOCODE technology is as easy as running Windows installation programs and applying scripts to build the database. The main collaborative effort occurs when analyzing and building the system interface, although industry standards and our pre-developed PLATOCODE system plug-ins smooth this process considerably.
We will work with your project team to implement all aspects of the system in a timely and professional manner.
